Weekly Wool Prices

Week Ending 12 August (Week 6)

12 August 2016

Australian wool auction sales resumed this week to a less than enthusiastic response from buyers. A relatively large offering enabled a wait and look strategy, whereby buyers were able to pick and choose their purchases over the long days of selling. As a consequence, the market drifted from the outset. The Merino market for long wools was basically 10 to 20ac lower, whilst the short wools, cardings, were hammered and lost upwards of 70ac for some types by the end of the  week. Conversely, the Comeback and Crossbred performed against expectations and managed to put on some handy gains to their price levels across most types.
